Smartphone Tip – Unlocked GSM 4G LTE Smartphone just $67
Via Amazon (sorry but i can’t verify how long this price will last) here’s an unlocked Lumia smartphone for less than $70 – and you can get free shipping using Prime or a free Prime delivery trial. The Lumia devices (think Nokia) have a pretty decent camera, pleasant UI, and the Lumia maps and music services are downright awesome! The device is unlocked and can be used on most carriers. Gorilla corning glass protects the device, however, they can break, I know this as we lost one recently to an accidental drop so to be safe you should case it!

Nokia Rebrands Lumia to Microsoft Lumia
This comes via Nokia Conversations blog… When we announced that the Nokia Devices & Services business would become part of Microsoft, we also shared that Lumia, our smartphone brand, would become part of the Microsoft family. Since then, we have naturally been making the change from Nokia to Microsoft in our websites, packaging and other consumer touch points.
Introducing Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1 with Cortana
Microsoft today has unveiled details of Windows POhone 8.1 OS as well as their new “digital Assistant” – enter Cortana – honestly, I have to say that I’m really not hot on the name and I’m even less excited about actually saying the name Cortana! Regardless, Microsoft has rolled out their latest effort to hype the Lumia lineup of devices with hopes that some of these slick smartphons may even start showing up in the hands of consumers… see more on the WP blog
Personally, I think the enhanced Skype app and calling features to be the most exciting here and data (and wifi) sense (think data warning and wifi data management) is a nice touch also!
Nokia Beta Labs FriendView reviewed via N82
I took the previous FriendView posting one step further and put the application to teh test while I stepped out for a coffee. Check out some first comments and images from testing the application live using a Nokia N82 device… enjoy! FriendView enables me to connect with some friends (most of who’m I’m finding via Jaiku) then we can share locations, notes, etc… think of a map-based twitter although a little more personal! The app has a great UI and very appealing maps… loads of fun too! Check out this micro-review of FriendView over on the LBSzone

Mobile advertising on steroids from Pepsi and the Kung Fu Fighting Widget
Interesting stuff out of Forum Nokia… AgencyNet has released Pepsi “Kung Fu Fighting” Widget, a mobile software application that is part of an international TV ad campaign for the Pepsi brand and beverages that began airing last week in certain Latin American markets. The “Kung Fu Fighting” mobile application, built using browser-based “Widget” technology from Nokia, enables mobile subscribers to play a game, view exclusive media, and link to the Pepsi website through devices based on S60 from Nokia and other manufacturers, as well as Nokia Series 40 devices. The Widget is available for download exclusively on www.pepsimundo.com.
