Ohmy, yep, that awkward moment when Microsoft rips… errrr adopts the Ignite name and brands their own event with it… pretty tacky Microsoft!
This via Twitter and Scott Berkun who shared with us details of this interesting Microsoft event… the problem though is that no doubt it will cause some confusion for many as they have branded the event with the popular prefix “Ignite”
Leave it to @microsoft to steal the name of @ignitesea, the iconic Seattle event started in ’06, with @MS_Ignite #ignite #boooooooo #lame

Myself, I’m a huge fan of Ignite, having been introduced to the events by Brady Forrest and Andrew Hyde and am pleased that I’ve attended at least 20 Ignite events in places like San Fran, Fort Collins, Boulder CO, and a few other places I can’t quite recall!
Yep, Microsoft will hold Microsoft Ignite but don’t expect any of the “Ignite” awesomeness that we’ve all come to expect from the O’reilly Media branded events… sigh… I’m pretty sure we might hear from Tim O’reilly about this one…
you can always learn about the real Ignite events at http://igniteshow.com/oreilly
