Some interesting details via Joseph Berry on a coming seminar – a TILT-sponsored seminar taking place at CSU (Fort Collins, CO) Friday August 29, 4-5pm in the TILT Auditorium located on the NW portion of the CSU Oval in the old Music Building (801 Oval Drive). The presentation describes the idea of SpatialSTEM for understanding and teaching spatial reasoning, map analysis and modeling fundamentals within a mathematical/statistical framework that resonates with science, technology, engineering and math/stat communities, as well as providing a structured organization of grid-based analytical tools for GIS specialists. More information about the seminar to include online readings and other support materials are posted HERE

A nice, and simple idea from the Indiana State Fair as parents will be able to slap a free wristband on their kids (or pets) to help keep them safe. Created by lostandfindme.com the wrist bands sport a handy QR code and when scanned will convey information such as the parent’s mobile phone number and/or email address. If a child is lost and found wearing the wristband, the QR Code is scanned using a QR Code Reader mobile application on any smartphone. About 5,000 of the wristbands will be distributed at the lostandfindme booth… kudos! See more HERE
Every year at ESRIUC I make a point of stopping by the Juniper Systems booth to have a look at their latest gadgets and technology. This year I met up with John Florio and he showed me the latest version of the Mesa Rugged Notepad, a pretty awesome rugged data collection device… oh and a sneak peek at the Rampage, Android version of the Mesa – enjoy!
