Things are ramping up in London this week as Nokia preps for next week’s Annual Nokia World event… essentially Nokia’s state of the union address and road ahead. Fresh from his tenure at Microsoft, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop will kick off the event Oct 25 at Nokia World London. The opening keynote can be viewed by all via live web-cast beginning at 9:00 a.m. BST on Wednesday, October 26 at http://events.nokia.com/nokiaworld.
Nokia will be unveiling their first to be released Windows Phone devices – see more HERE and no doubt the topic of where’s Symbian, What’s in store for developers, and Windows Phone will be hot ones. For the North American attendees I’m sure there’s will be many questions fired at Nokia such as when will NA device owners be entitled to OTA software upgrades that the rest of the World has seen, when will Windows Phone devices ship here etc… Truth be told, many feel that in North America Nokia and Microsoft have waited far too long to roll out a device and that too much traction has been lost here to iOS and Android. For the Windows developer, however, a Nokia Windows Phone could be a compelling option in particular location aware mobile apps and services and those that will take advantage of integration with the Maps services. It should be interesting to see which service, Nokia Ovi, Navteq, or Bing will be branded with the devices.
