As a former Colorado resident I was (and still am) quite involved in the GIS industry in Colorado and so I was glad to hear about this announcement. There’s no doubt that Colorado is likely the heart of the US GIS/Geo tech industry, however, there really has been a void in the ORGs as far as promoting the States Geo industry and talent.. perhaps this new effort from MAPPS will pick up the slack here. Announced officially at the GIS in the Rockies conference, currently underway in Denver, CO, MAPPS Executive Director John Palatiello and Gary Outlaw, Merrick & Company (Aurora, CO), the first President of CO-MAPPS, said the chapter will, “Promote the significant cluster of geospatial firms and organizations in Colorado and its contributions to the state’s employment base and economy as well as work with the State of Colorado to leverage that synergy for further business growth.”
Kudos and Good Luck – see more details HERE
