I Just got an message and update from Marc A. Levy, Deputy Director, Center for International Earth Science Information Network and he provides me with the latest data and maps on their analysis of population being affected by Hurricane Irene – From CIESEN, Columbia University as of August 27, 7 PM EDT – CIESEN is generating maps showing how Irene is intersecting eastern U.S. population distribution, and calculating estimates of number of people within 100 and 200 miles of the track. Updated maps and numbers are placed in this directory: ciesin.columbia.edu/hurricane-irene-2011/.
