Plenty of activity indeed here in Austin, Texas this week at SXSW particularly in the areas of mobile, social, and location (this regarding the Interactive component of the event). I’ve been treated to some interesting discussions regarding social location, and in particular, methods of visualizing social activity – more on that later. Nokia has been busy hyping a new Find and Connect service (not yet available, sorry) that enables you to, you guessed it, find others around you and connect with them. I’ve been trialing the service on a Nokia N8 smartphone and taking advantage of the endless free Wifi around here to connect with colleagues and see where they are relative to my location… it’s quite clever and the indoor positioning capabilities are very impressive!
Speaking of visualization, last night (Saturday) at the #NokiaConnects SXSW Party at The Belmont myself and a couple of hundred others were treated to an awesome visualization on a 20 story office building. Enjoy the impressive show of Angry Birds that attacked us…
