Its been a couple of years since I was first introduced to Schmap at Where2.0 and today the cool, local search phenom is still getting better! I’m a huge fan and I’ve been waiting for the day when Schmap gets a huge lift and perhaps goes mainstream and roll off people’s tongues as the must-use local search resource… that day may be here thanks to Twitter! Schmap delivers relevant, local search results including geospatial attributes, photos, maps, reviews and more… but now the service is rolling out relevant Twitter comments that tie in with the vast local POI database.. quite impressive really.
So, imagine this, no you can access a list of fine restaurants in San Francisco, CA and in addition to the wealth of information already within the Schmap database (the user reviews are amazing) you can also get the latest tweets about the restaurants as well – while viewing your restaurants on a map as well.. this is sweet and holds many possibilities! Check it out for yourself at the Schmap Picks http://schmap.com/picks – once there you can view establishments by type (think bars, seafood, sushi etc…) or by geographic region. You can even follow Schmap San Fran Picks on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/sanfranpicks – I’m looking forward to more city roll-outs from this amazing mashup!
