News from the Getmapping crew in the UK inform us about People’s Map and the New Website – Getmapping aerial photography is playing a vital supporting role in the People’s Map – www.peoplesmap.com. This is an ongoing web-based mapping project, which allows users to create their own mapping by drawing over Getmapping aerial photography. Users simply register and map everything from roads and land use through to points of interest, using the simple online editing tools. Anyone can register, contribute and use the map for private, non-commercial use for free apart from a small delivery charge – it is entirely free of charge.
