Yes indeed, recently, at the ESRIUC, Esri business partner, Airbus Defense and Space showed off their newly launched service that enables ArcGIS users to easily task a satellite (Pleiades and SPOT) for data collection over any area of interest. the service is now available through the ArcGIS Marketplace and boasts that users will receive their data within 30-60 days (See also the PR announcement).

An interesting data product… LandBase provides classification down to individual property level. Using Definiens software to develop the land cover classifications, LandBase is designed as a framework, for used within a GIS system, to allow specific spatial queries-what percentage of this area is covered by trees-as well as allow the addition of further detailed classifications.This new land cover product is a vector map produced using the latest digital aerial imagery and object based classification technology. News out of GeoInt this week as Flight Landata has introduced their Dual-Swath BuckEye EO system. The new Dual-Swath configuration of BuckEye provides a 78-megapixel imaging capability with centimeter-level spatial resolution. Larger collection areas per flight line mean the aircraft is in the air for shorter periods during acquisition or it can cover a greater area in a given time. See more on this cool technology here
