Recall, Seattle-based LizardTech recently lifted the lid off GeoExpress 8, the latest major update to their flagship product. At V8 GeoExpress adds support for multispectral data, alpha channels and improved mosaicking – Previously, mosaics were either quick to create but slower for end users to open, or opened rapidly in viewing applications but took a long time to create. Now thousands of MrSID files can be combined without spending valuable time reprocessing them. At V8 the company has also intruduced the release of MrSID 4 (MG4) – MG4 mosaics open as quickly as a single image, saving time both creating images and viewing them.
To support the update and their users, LizardTech has released a new white paper about MrSID This from LizardTech… Today, as the precision of sensors increases and as new data forms such as multispectral and LiDAR become more widely available, the need for advanced compression technology such as MrSID continues to grow. In this white paper, LizardTech introduces you to the concept of compression, MrSID technology, and the features that the MrSID format brings to your applications and workflows.
