What’s The Best Smartphone For Enterprise Solutions?

In 2006, Blackberry devices dominated the global enterprise and business community. From small to medium enterprises, including the Fortune 500 global companies, Blackberry handsets were the top choice for office/field productivity with 10 millions users in 2007, due to its high security and encryption level (which can protect one’s private data), intuitive smartphone applications such as Document viewer and push-email support, and ergonomic design brought about by its QWERTY keyboard layout. But, the consumer behavior has changed dramatically since Steve Jobs introduced the very first touchscreen smartphone in 2007 – the 1st generation iPhone

Introducing Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1 with Cortana

Microsoft today has unveiled details of Windows POhone 8.1 OS as well as their new “digital Assistant” – enter Cortana – honestly, I have to say that I’m really not hot on the name and I’m even less excited about actually saying the name Cortana! Regardless, Microsoft has rolled out their latest effort to hype the Lumia lineup of devices with hopes that some of these slick smartphons may even start showing up in the hands of consumers…  see more on the WP blog

Personally, I think the enhanced Skype app and calling features to be the most exciting here and data (and wifi) sense (think data warning and wifi data management) is a nice touch also!

Cool Gadget Video – Nokia JBL PowerUp Wireless Charger Speaker

I recently acquired a cool wireless charger / speaker from Nokia, the JBL PowerUp charging device.  This portable device is an ideal way to connect almost any audio device (smartphone, tablet, ghetto blaster or ??) either wirelessly over Bluetooth or by cable. Once connected the sound is pretty stunning and the speaker can be hidden away on a bookshelf. Control the speaker from a distance of up to 30 feet using your smartphone or tablet and coolest of all, the speaker has NFC and can charge a NFC enabled Nokia Lumia smartphone as well. Check out this first look unboxing as I connect an iPad to the speaker using a cable and by Bluetooth.

Nokia Lumia Teaser and a Look at the Lumia 920 parts

I recently received a “teaser” package from the Nokia Connects crew showing off some of the pieces of the Nokia Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8 device which will be coming out later this year. I was a little surprised by the package, at first thinking I was sent an actual 920 device… no such luck though! The teaser pack is designed to introduce us to the amazing build that can be expected from this impressive device. In typical Nokia fashion, the package was a very classy, shiny, impressive box and was engraved with “Nokia Lumia 920″ just to tease me even more.

Inside was some of the main pieces of the Lumia 920 in an effort to show off the impressive build and high quality parts. There were 3 sections to the package (as seen below in the images) each showing off a special, unique feature of the hardware. See more details HERE
