An interesting announcement from Down-under… A few days ago Australian Government 2.0 Taskforce announced an open invitation to any “able and willing body” to create mashups with nominated datasets from various Federal and State jurisdictions in Australia. Australian Government has just announced a contest for the best mushup that incorporates a range of spatial and non-spatial data from public institutions around the country. More information on http://all-things-spatial.blogspot.com if you are interested. If you already have an exciting application or advanced prototype and would like to partner with someone from Australia on the project please visit http://www.aus-emaps.com site for contact details.
Details of a cool, new developer competition just hit my desk courtesy of the team at ESRI UK. ESRI (UK) and Bing Maps are challenging the UK’s Web developers to build a GIS-based mashup that demonstrates how GIS can be used to improve business processes, unlock information and/or connect people with geographical data. The winner will be announced during this year’s AGI Community Conference – see the official announcement HERE or jump to http://www.esriuk.com/micro_sites/mashup_challenge/
