Indeed the topic of location services and privacy is a huge one. It seems that over the years whenever LBS technology makes advances into the consumer space the topic of privacy and security creeps up – and for good reason. It seems that in the Capital this topic is gaining traction as well as I’ve heard that The Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade, and Consumer Protection and the Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, and the Internet will hold a joint hearing on “The Collection and Use of Location Information for Commercial Purposes” on Wednesday, February 24, 2010. I’ll be following these hearings with interest, particularly as I’ve been in touch with legal counsel who are conducting research in an effort to put together a panel of presenters for the session… stay tuned.
