Notes from the ESRIUC - The geodatabase at 9.4

Yesterday at the #ESRIUC I sat in on a session to hear about the geodatabase at 9.4. The following are a few snippets of interest that I picked up on that describe some cool enhancements that we will see:

• Enhanced geodb info model
• Improved flexibility of use of geodb replication
• Focus on performance and quality
• More open
• Enhancing the geoDB information model - to simplify the workflow to quickly add lots of features into an existing network
• Support for versioning and partial rebuilds of the network
• Integration with time-dependent traffic data (real-time data)
• Now users can get more effective and realistic estimations in analysis results
• Improved capabilities for long distance routing thanks to better sophisticated indexing and better spatial clustering to reduce DB traffic
• Enhanced geodb info model
• New raster model for imagery management
• New… Mosaic support
• An enhanced raster catalog supports ortho rect, pan sharpening, and mosaicing
• Improved workflows for a centralized GeoDB
• Improved field workflows
• Great for disaster mgmt scenarios!
• Better handling of replication for GeoDBs with diff schemas… eg link “counties” field to “Counties_2”
• Provide open and direct access to data
• Open file geoDB API
