Have you ever rushed off to the beach to catch sunrise or sunset hoping to score a sweet photo only to have missed the sweet moment by a couple of minutes? It happens to me all the time but perhaps I can curb that a little with this fun web service designed to inform you exactly when the golden hour will take place in your part of the World – enter the Sunrise and Sunset Photography Calculator.
On thing I really like here is that we have a web service and not an app… nice! The service is location aware, either automatically detecting where you are (if on iPad or other GPS connected device) or it will ask for some geographic identifier to help pinpoint where you are. Then the app will return for you a nice little map (thanks google maps API) showing the direction of the sun during and the range you can expect, as well as exact times of dawn, dusk, sunrise, sunset, and midday. You can also specify a date in the future to help plan a shoot or even locate the times for a another place, perhaps in advance of a vacation… nice stuff! See the Calculator HERE
