Another interesting story map from Esri. This one looks at mapping the hometowns, class, and the fate of the passengers. The interesting map shows the home towns of passengers, spanning all over Europe, and from Brunswick, Maine to Seattle, WA in the USA. The app has mashed up all the data enabling users to manipulate, sort and view a number of variables. For example, view survival rates by hometown or by class – lets just say that on her trip you would not have wanted to have been a Third class passenger as just 183 survived out of a total of 713.
About the Titanic (Wiki) RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912 after colliding with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York City. The sinking of Titanic caused the deaths of 1,514 people in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history. She was the largest ship afloat at the time of her maiden voyage.
