So, by now you may have heard all about Nokia’s foray into the US / North American market (I’ll say North America even though there’s hardly been a word mentioned in Canada) and finally some Nokia Windows Phone powered devices coming to market. Well, if you haven’t heard about it then you that’s likely don’t follow some of the Nokia focused blogs, Windows Phone enthusiasts, or European bloggers chasing the US web traffic . So, let me fill you in… recently the hype from Nokia (particularly out of the UK) has been all about the Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone smartphone – there’s a couple of Nokia toting tech bloggers currently trialing the device and spreading some love about it. But hold on because the Lumia 800 (the first ever Nokia Windows Phone) has already been one-upped by Nokia themselves (classic Nokia move) . This happened today in Las Vegas at CES (I’m hearing perhaps this could be the final year for CES) as Nokia CEO Stephen Elop took to the stage and introduced America to the Lumia 900 – in partnership with AT&T.
Yep, that’s correct, this will be an AT&T device so if you are on contract with another carrier then move along, there’s nothing for you here for now! For thos of you content with AT&T and willing to extend your contract the Lumia 900 sports the following specs of interest:
- 4.3-inch AMOLED ClearBlack Display
- fast connection speeds via 4G LTE technology
- Nokia’s exclusive Carl Zeiss optics, with large aperture (F2.2) and wide angle focal length (28mm)
- Front facing camera (think video calling)
- exclusive ESPN sports hub is pre-loaded on Nokia Lumia smartphones
- More specs and details in this announcement
