Putting Food Inspections On The Map With Google Maps – #OpenGov

There’s no questioning that as Government become more transparent and make more data easily available to the public in usable data formats that awesome apps and excellent examples of civic engagement will result – enter the Seattle Food Inspection Map. See http://www.dinegerous.com/

Using this great mashup with data scraped from the King County Department of Health (see source here) the user can easily view restaurtants and the results of Health inspections on a map. POIs are color coded in a range from Safe to Dangerous and the user can also view results on a sliding scale using the tools provided. A fine example of Civi Engagement in Seattle – thanks to Google Maps Mania blog for the tip off.
