Bing has added a new social connect app for Windows Phone users called “We’re In”. The idea is to hook up with a group of friends and you all share your location. You invite a friend or colleague to join you, then once they do so you can share each other’s location. Seems very familiar to me, much like Glympse or if you think way back can you recall the Nokia Vine Beta app that never got out of the research stage? “We’re In” is available as a Windows Phone application. See more details on the official Bing blog.
Perhaps the biggest issue I see with such a service is that it really is tied to the user’s mobile platform of choice. Case in point, unless you happen to have a group of friends all using a Windows Phone device (not too likely I’d suspect) then you all can’t share in a like experience. I would suspect that Google could possibly extend the location provisioning of a service like G+ to include location sharing of goups or even a huddle to enable real-time sharing of location status updates, much like you can currently do with Latitude.
