An interesting OpenData story – I stumbled onto details of an interesting effort to map the aftershocks of the Japan earthquake using mostly open data and open tools. The map was built using the open-source map design studio TileMill, a free tool that allows you to create custom maps using your own data, and open data released by the USGS. The results are impressive and the discussion moves on to show how you can build your own interactive map using open data and TileMill.
