Wow, linked many of you who use LinkedIn, you may have received an update from the service this week giving you some year-end stats on your account. Myself with roughly 1,000 connections, mostly all of them involved in GIS and geospatial technologies, I was very interested and somewhat surprised to read that in 2010 320 of my professional connections changed jobs! Indeed the economy is shaking things up and the job market has been, well, unstable to say the least. On the upside, this doesn’t necessarily mean bad news since that statistic also tells us that 30% of my contacts managed to locate new jobs… great stuff! Stay positive… FYI, those of you looking to make a change or land a new position, a couple of resources that we encourage you to use include: our GISuser Job board (employers please take advantage of cheap posting – or free is you just ask us); contractors feel free to list yourself or your company for free in our Industry Directory; on FB you can connect with about 1600 GIS users; LinekedIn users consider joining our popular profesional networking group of some 9,000 GIS Pros!
FYI, you can connect with yours truly on LinkedIn right here if interested!
