You may have noticed recently that Mapquest is really hyping OpenStreetMap (OSM) as well as the fact they have made a large investment in OSM – the company also recently announced they have hired Hurricane Coast to manage Mapquest’s $1 million open-source mapping investment. So why is Mapquest interested in OSM so much lately? Erhaps this presentation by David Cole or Mapquest (Denver) can shed a little light on things. David presented at the reent Ignite Spatial NOCO event in Windsor, Colorado. He was also present and exhibiting at GIS in the Rockies. (Sorry but the start of the presentation was cut off due to a technical glitch!) See also this slideshare presentation from Mapquest made at the SOTM conference earlier this year.
