A clever, interactive mashup is available in this excellent app built by Stamen using Bing Maps. Use the app to track recent events and see exactly where the storm has been and where its going. The UI and design is incredibly pleasing and the app is fun and simple to use… well done by Stamen on the design! Check out the Bing Maps, MSNBC Hurricane Tracker HERE

Taking it one step further, the app has custom gateways to major urban centers around the Globe, enabling you to see what’s being said around you on Twitter and Foursquare! For example, interested in discussions in Vancouver… then check out Sency Vancouver http://sency.com/Vancouver where you can search for local tweets and see a list of popular places that have been discussed recently. These popular places trends update every 4 hours, and people are starting to send out Tweets when a place they like or own is popular on Sency – Check it out at http://sency.com/
Jersey Shore Never Had A Nokia Beach House – We Go Creeping With The Nokia E73 Mode
As you may have noticed in previous posts this week, I recently had the good fortune to take part in a fun and interesting Nokia-planned event, designed to introduce several of us geeky, mobile, tech blogger types to the recently launched Nokia E73 Mode smartphone (think Business “mode” and pleasure “mode”). The event was relatively short, the 4 bloggers showing up at the beach house on Friday evening and departing Sunday mid-morning – that gave us about 36 hours of fun and down-to-business time with the devices. In typical WOM event fashion, much of the focus here was on having a group of mobile geeks get together and discuss the device, mobile technology, and basic mobile geekness!
We were locked up (not really) in an ocean front beach house, each provided with our own E73 Mode, fed delicious food at regularly scheduled interviews, and given access to all the coffee, Red Bull, and alcohol that we needed (and yes, we were all very well behaved ;0). I couldn’t help feeling somewhat like Mike, the Situation, from Jersey Shore as I wandered the beach house and thought about the environment – all that was missing was Snookie, a hot tub, and a few grenades!!
