Yes indeed, as if it isn’t already tough enough to decide on how to check-in to my Twitter stream via mobile another cool app comes along – enter Boulder, CO based PegShot. Using foursquare-like social check-in, the app is now available to iPhone users who want to check-in from the favorite hang-outs. there’s no game-like functionality with this one, rather, it seems to be there to create a convenient way to check-in and hang a photo with the check-in (personally, photo upload is my favorite and must-have function of social check-in, something foursquare lacks).
Users get an account where all their check-ins and media are stored and the app connects with facebook and Twitter to make sharing fast and simple. A location map is also stored along with “pegs”. So far this one looks really good. With my first check-in from my favorite test locale (Loodles coffee shop) the app detected nearby POIs very quickly and the coffee shop was listed in the choices, reducing the need for me to key in where I was, i simply selected from the list and checked-in. So far the app seems to be only for iPhone – see the iTunes shop searching for PegShot (free) See this first Twitter check-in and see also my PegShot account HERE
