At the opening plenary session of the ESRI user conference we got a first look at ArcGIS mobile running on iPhone and taking advantage of the built-in location services and ArcGIS online data… nice!! A short demo reveals enterprise mapping uses for the iPhone for collecting data in the field (like graffiti locations and photos) and sharing with the geodatabase

Un-boxing the new iPhone 3G S smartphone
There’s no question that many of you are current iPhone users, however, a number of people are still waiting to become eligible for their upgrade to the latest and greatest – the iPhone 3G S (with GPS). My counterpart over at the latest Spatial Media website, MachineControlOnline.com, Randy Noland, recently got his new iPhone 3G and has shared with us this un-boxing video.. enjoy the vid and feel free to send us your thoughts and comments about the iPhone, particularly as a platform for developing mapping and LBS apps – recall, ESRI has come up with a very Beta iPhone app and no doubt we’ll be seeing and hearing much about this exciting area in the future!
