Yesterday at the #ESRIUC I sat in on a session to hear about the geodatabase at 9.4. The following are a few snippets of interest that I picked up on that describe some cool enhancements that we will see:
- Enhanced geodb info model
- Improved flexibility of use of geodb replication
- Focus on performance and quality
- More open
- Enhancing the geoDB information model – to simplify the workflow to quickly add lots of features into an existing network
- Support for versioning and partial rebuilds of the network
- Integration with time-dependent traffic data (real-time data)
- Now users can get more effective and realistic estimations in analysis results
- Improved capabilities for long distance routing thanks to better sophisticated indexing and better spatial clustering to reduce DB traffic
- Enhanced geodb info model
- New raster model for imagery management
- New… Mosaic support
- An enhanced raster catalog supports ortho rect, pan sharpening, and mosaicing
- Improved workflows for a centralized GeoDB
- Improved field workflows
- Great for disaster mgmt scenarios!
- Better handling of replication for GeoDBs with diff schemas… eg link “counties” field to “Counties_2”
- Provide open and direct access to data
- Open file geoDB API
- New query layers functionality
