I was very impressed recently to find out that the Loveland, CO chamber of commerce has a Web2.0 committee… very slick! I have to wonder how many communities are progressive enough to have such a forward thinking group of professionals that aren’t afraid to embrace a technologies that are obviously on the minds of business people (tip – follow @BrianWillms Loveland Chamber Pres on Twitter). I found out about the committee while attending the Loveland Social Media meet-up (see @NOCOSocialMedia on Twitter), you can see some of the tweets as a result of this meet-up by searching hashtag #NOCOsms. This brought to mind a question… I wonder how many companies have a Web2.0 or social media committee? Definitely worth some thought. I can envision the group taking on such issues as:
-developing a social media strategy
– assigning rules and delegating social media duties
– educating employees
– tracking
– creating feeds and developing strategies for following up
– developing social media channels (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook)
– event planning and coordinating attendees to take in local events
– developing naming strategies, user access controls etc…
– planning speeches and presentations (a presentation on this topic at a conference will definitely fill some seats)
– planning and developing mobile strategies
If your company doesn’t have a Web2.0 committee yet but could benefit from one perhaps you could be the champion to suggest it! After all, if you’re reading this post I’d have to say that perhaps this topic is of interest to you! Be sure to ping me if you decide to start a committee.
