From the latest news update from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Geography, and interesting, award winning map from a student. The map is a fine example of excellence in cartography and is very interesting at the same time – the author did a great job gathering data and presenting it in a very meaningful and simple to understand format. From UWM…GIS/Cart graduate student Ben Coakley took second prize for the National Geographic Society Award in Mapping. Ben’s winning map is entitled “Scheduled Service on Small Airlines in Canada, Summer 2008” and shows regularly scheduled passenger air service to remote communities in Canada. Ben won $300 for second prize and a National Geographic Atlas – kudos and congrats to Ben! See the map here (PDF)
