A new interactive mapping service in the UK is helping locals track crime incidents. The Cornwall Crime Explorer is updated every 3 months (or quarter) with new recorded crime data. This includes data on the total number of crime incidents and the crime rate (based on the latest resident population figures for each ward) for a number of types of crime. The crime type figures for each ward are aggregated to the 3 month period. Data are presented in highly-interactive tables, charts and maps on a single page to assist interpretation. User interaction is in real-time, ideal for data exploration.
Cornwall Crime Explorer allows you to:
Find out about crime levels for different types of crime for any area of interest by clicking on a ward on the map. Compare patterns for different crime types across all 121 wards in the county and contrast these with average crime levels for Cornwall. Understand how crime is changing over time by comparing trends. See http://www.amethyst.gov.uk/crime.htm
