Looks like the Rumsey Map collection will be getting a nice, new home at Stanford. According to this Silicon Valley News source… The collection of about 150,000 maps will go to Stanford Library’s Special Collections division for preservation. Rumsey says one of the rarest maps that has been donated is Lewis & Clark’s map used during their journey through the upper Missouri and into Oregon published in 1814. On the bright side, he says the maps will only be a 40 minutes drive away, so he can visit them. See also http://www.davidrumsey.com/ or you can also browse the Collection on SecondLife
