Tip O the day — I’m a huge fan of the video… those of you who follow me know I always have my video enabled camera phone in tow and grab clips of everything and everyplace I go – archiving vids on Qik, youtube, blip, ustream, flixwagon, Ovi etc… So, what’s my point? Think about it, if you have a great Geo technology solution, maybe a translation tool, an SDK, ArcGIS extension, Image processing tool, even some cool data why not make a video? A short, 2 minute video can be archived online via youtube, others will embed and share it with their readers (I have a section on GISuser and LBSzone devoted to videos) and potential clients will be wowed! If you’re product or app is that good (maybe even a cool and clever as a ShamWow!) then you have to make a video and then tell people about it and share it.

Jim Benson, CEO of Modus Cooperandi has tipped me off about some of the work he’s been involved with lately. Part of Jim’s Passion is dealing with social media, particularly from a management consultant’s perspective. Last month Jim posted a lengthy series of readings on his blog titled his “10 principles of social media”. From Jim…
My social media principles are attempting to boil down the core lessons that social media has taught us. These can then be applied in a technology neutral way to the rest of our lives and in business.
These principles help us communicate and relate better. With these principles we can establish networks and understand our place in them. These principles give coherence to the creation and exchange of value. All of these help us build better communities and working relationships.
