S60 App of the day – Mobile Web Server for S60 from Nokia Research Labs… Mobile Web Server, also known as Raccoon, consists of a port of the Apache web server to the S60 smartphone platform, and a connectivity solution that provides a mobile phone with a global URL and with HTTP access to it.
Google G1 (Android) App of the day – Mippin mobile site creator for G1 (Android mobile OS) see more in the prior link or jump to mippin.com. The app is now available via the Android MArket so G1 users can easily create and access mobile friendly websites.

Free GIS Data Pick of the day – VMAP1 – The Vector Smart Map (VMap) family of databases is a set of digital vector product databases oroginally used for military IT, simulation- and geoinformation systems as well as for the production of military analogue and digitalmaps. VMap Level 1 (VMap1) data correspond to the geometry and contents of maps in the scale of 1:250.000.
.. and a special mention goes to this gem from “Directions” from a Top 10 article… I sat down to write my annual list of “10 events, ideas, themes, products, etc. that stood out over the preceding 12 months” but found it more difficult than usual.. In the end, I deemed the list “lame.” – Isn’t this quite odd given that GIS and geotechnology has made HUGE strides at infiltrating mainstrean tech this year and is touching everyone in all parts of their lives more than ever…
