An interesting community, collaborative effort to search aerial photography, satellite imagery and other remotely sensed data products to locate a downed plane in Guyana (recall, this effort also searched widely for the Steve Fossett plane). Some details… InternetSAR.org has launched a new search mission for a King Air with a crew of three that went down in the jungles of Guyana on November 1, 2008. The quality of aerial imagery we have for this search is just about as good as it gets and the sheer volume of imagery available to us is staggering. If we are to work through all of the imagery in a timely basis and help bring closure to the families of the missing crew, we will need as much help as we can get. You can access this search mission and more information here… or visit http://internetsar.org/ search volunteers are needed!

Last night I managed to get my arse outta the house and drove south on I-25 down to the CU campus in Boulder, CO to take in Ignite Colorodo #2 (see @igniteboulder & ignitecolorado.com) and boy am I glad I did! FYI, Ignite is a local technology meet-up here in NOCO organized by some local tech geeks and the business community. The evening was a cozy setting of tech professionals, geeks, social media gurus and wannabees watching a series of “random” presentations for local start-ups. A wide range of ideas were presented, some not directly related to what I do, but all had great visions, loads of energy and some very helpful tips – I definitely left rejuvinated, excited about the local tech scene, and connected to a number of new tech geeks from the region… more to come shorty but prior to that, enjoy the welcome video presented by event organizer Andrew Hyde (also on youtube) (See twitter @andrewhyde) Note: more images from the event here on my flickr and some videos from Igniet are now on my YouTube Channel
And a final tip… if there’s ever an ignite or similar geek meet-up it your area make sure you go!
