To Tweet or not, regardless you better grab your name!

Just a reminder to you corporate comms people and marketing types… you may not be interested in Twitter and it may not be part of your marketing plan, however, you better go grab your twitter username… if its even still available! Just today a marketing exec from a LARGE company asked me if I had any idea who may be the holder of a twitter account that uses their company name… OOPS! Looks like they snoozed or someone beat them to the punch! Some companies have been quick, grabbing their twitter “domains” like @esri, @terrago, @erdas but some others likely have missed out, perhaps even being scooped by their own employees or clients… I suggest you grab your Twitter name and sit on it… fast! PS - you can follow our updates via @gletham @gisuser and @lbszone

what companies have you seen that have had their twitter name scooped? One that comes to mind for me is @redbull @mapinfo also!

I noticed that http://twitter.com/virtualearth was available a few months back and grabbed it. I’m a Windows Live MVP so thought it would be a great way to unite people twittering about Virtual Earth. With this big push towards commerical companies having twitter accounts and even having to pay I wonder if I will be forced to give up that account at some stage?
I didn’t take it for profit, I took it to help promote the community around that tech.
John.
